Karsen is a recent graduate of the Painting and Printmaking department at VCU school of the arts. She began her academic career at VCU in the Photography and Film department where she found a love for the darkroom/alternative processes in film photography. Karsen is interested in translating the processes she utilized in the darkroom into painting techniques to create work that goes through a unique process of covering and uncovering. Her aim is to create heavily saturated environments that can be perceived as inter-dimensional landscapes or portraits.
